I just told Kevin that I am going to focus on the fundamentals of photography for a while before I start messing around to much in editing software.

  2. Rusty: when you look at a photo you want a primary subject to focus on. In your picture you see the flowers but they aren't alone as there's a lot going on in the picture.. its great you have some background blur to isolate the flowers in the foreground and sometimes thats hard to achieve depending on the distance and your focal length of your lens. you shot at 50mm which is great but in your camera it turns it into a 75mm nice if you need that extra length. the aperture was 5.6, i dont know what lens u use but if you can get that lower then your background will become more blurry causing more focus on your subject. I would try also to always play with cropping after you take the picture to allow for more creativity if you cant crop in the camera when you take the picture.

Take a look at the quick edit I did to show you some of the suggestions.

  3. Chris,
Thanks for the advice...i did use a 50mm lens and the aperture was set at 5.6. If the weather is nice this weekend I will try and retake this picture with my other lens and/or different settings.
